Because we establish a one-to-one relationship with each client we are able to offer timely, individual advice on how to improve your business or personal finances.

FORWARD-THINKING ADVICE TO PUT YOU IN THE BEST POSITION POSSIBLE

We have developed client-focused services that provide not only all the reliable background support you would expect from a professional firm but also forward-thinking advice on how to improve your situation.

  • VAT

Value Added Tax is one of the most complex and onerous taxes imposed on business.  It is so easy to get it wrong.  We can provide an overall check to make sure that you are getting things right and actually this forms part of our regular recurring work on an annual basis (or more regularly if needed).  So although it’s very important to get it right, we can say that it is generally under regular and constant scrutiny.

  • Corporate Tax Planning

A rather grand title for the proper tax housekeeping that all businesses should undergo.  It can be intricate and (paradoxically) involving a lot of careful, sensible thought.  In other words it is an extensive subject and it merits an approach involving personal tax as well as that applying to the business.  A balancing act.

  • Personal Tax Planning

With the tax regime becoming more complex and more emphasis being put on taxpayers’ individual responsibilities, everyone who is subject to taxation needs professional advice and support if they are to optimize their tax position and ensure they meet all the compliance requirements.  Put simply we can do that.  We know about tax and what can be done about it.

  • Probate, Wills & Estate Planning

We are licensed to carry out probate work and ancillary to that we also offer a service of preparing Wills for clients, and Powers of Attorney.  All of this is highly personal.

Probate is a procedural matter and being specially licensed by the ICAEW, we do quite a lot of it.  Large and small estates.  Powers of Attorney are relatively straightforward but clients do need advice and a one to one meeting at the outset is the best way to do this.  Wills are a separate subject and need very careful thought and planning and they go hand in hand (so to speak) with Inheritance Tax planning.  The earlier the better as far as both of these are concerned and with some careful thought it is often possible to save very considerable sums of tax.

  • Retirement Strategies

Everyone hopes to maintain the same standard of living in retirement as they presently enjoy while working, but to achieve this requires considerable forward planning.

We are not authorised to advise on specific investments but we are licensed to advise on investment and pensions generally, from a constitutional or technical point of view.  We have a designated professional body licence from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and this enables us to cover every aspect of investment, short of stock picking or its equivalent.

IFAs are the people who do this and generally speaking we introduce our clients to one of the firms with whom we regularly deal.  There is a small number of competent and supportive outfits.

We don’t have any financial relationship with any outside firm and we do not share commission.  That way we are totally independent and unaffected by whatever they do.

We see it as our job to advise generally, and then to try to help our clients to reach a decision based on investment advice from third parties.  We do a great deal of advising on retirement and pension planning for example, all in a framework of overall tax planning, including Inheritance Tax.

  • Trusts & Executorships

Not easy but in many cases Trusts have distinct advantages.  There’s complicated tax on setting them up, running them and, where appropriate, bringing them to an end, but we deal regularly with lots of different types of Trusts so we can advise on the best way forward.
